In this class students share stories from their lives — from major events to minor anecdotes — and explore which ones feel most compelling. Then, with the guidance of three-time Manhattan Monologue Slam champion Carl Kissin, they will shape those stories into a well-told tales that engage the listener. Depending upon the story, next steps include heightening the humor, accentuating the poignancy, emphasizing obstacles, and finding ways to keep the listener on the edge of their seat. By the end of the term, we will share our diverse experiences and in-common connections on stage. Everyone has great stories in their life, now it’s time to put some life into those stories.
